His appointment as an esteemed “A” Panel Government Pleader is a testament to his mastery of the law and his unwavering commitment to justice.
Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Tijoriwala was cherished as a devoted son, a loving husband, a respected father, brother, and friend. His humility and warmth touched all who knew him. As a mentor, he led with insight and generosity, shaping countless legal minds with wisdom, patience, and care.
His legacy lives on not only in the precedents he helped shape, but in the lives and hearts of those he guided and inspired.
MR. M.S. SANGHAVI, a Senior Advocate, honored Mr. Shashikant T. Tijoriwala as a “Senior Advocate who made a name for himself at the Bombay Bar. He was respected by all and was a fine counsel with a thriving practice.”
MR. K.K. SINGHVI, reminiscing his friendship with Mr. Shashikant T. Tijoriwala of his college days expressed that they were contemporaries and colleague and frequently appeared together or opposed each other in Court. Mr. Tijoriwala was a fine cross-examiner. He also had wide interests outside the profession. He was a keen student of yoga and was fond of hiking and sojourning in hill-stations. He was also regarded as highly knowledgeable about the stock market though he was a wise and prudent investor.
MR. M.T. TIJORIWALA, his brother, shared that Mr. S. T. Tijoriwala was offered Judicial Office. He further highlighted that he had signed articles with M/s Nanavati, Tijoriwala & Co. and handled many matters when the City Civil Court was first established. On qualifying as a Solicitor, he debated whether to practice as such or to take up Counsel practice and ultimately decided to pursue the latter. In time, he acquired a large and thriving practice and was designated a Senior Counsel of the Bombay High Court.
As we pay tribute to Mr. S. T. Tijoriwala, we celebrate a life that was truly well-lived—one marked by brilliance in the courtroom and benevolence beyond it. His contributions to legal fraternity remain indelible, and his influence endures in the hearts of family, friends, and mentees. He leaves behind a legacy that will echo for generations to come.
